Perks...

Well, it's that time of year again. It's the second annual manly man tenting and fishing trip that Kevy and the two biggest hoolies are going on with another friend and his son. The weather is predicting rain for the entire time they'll be away, but those three could care less.

They are gathering their treasures.
They're sorting their lures.
And, they're counting their jacknives and multi-tools.
(Let's just see if they come home with all of their appendages. Lord have mercy on us all....)

These three have been talking about this trip for days. Tonight, we went to the store and bought all of the last minute meals and treats. Rain ponchos were tried on for size, and bug repellant has been purchased.

I have been given the esteemed honor and privilege of packing the kid's extra changes of clothing - of which I am quite certain is a pointless endeavor. I am willing to bet money that neither will their undies get changed, nor will their teeth get brushed the entire time they are away. We shall see. Daddy is more attentive than most, so the toothbrushes and the extra undies will get packed for just in case.

I'm excited for this trip. I'm excited for the memories that will be made, and for the bonding that will take place. I love to see their boyish excitment and hear their explanations of how each lure works, what exactly they'll be able to catch with each one, and why it is absolutely necessary to pack their eight knives and multi-tools. I like seeing them live and breathe the anticipation with conversations of the trip being the last thing on their lips before bed and the first thing they talk about in the morning. They are pumped and nothing makes me happier.

I love any opportunity for brothers to make memories that will bond them closer as friends.

1075. I also quite love the idea that I will not be getting wet or bug bitten.
1076. I love that my Marmie will be coming down to spend those three days with me!
1077. I love that it'll be a few decibles quieter for a couple of days.
1078. I love that we just might get some uninterrupted conversation.
1079. I love that we'll watch tons of chick flicks whilst the wee one slumbers.
1080. And I love that next year, the wee-est hoolie will be initiated into man camp.

Oh, think of the trouble I could get into!
There are a few perks to being the only girl...
